The Mt. Tom B-17 Memorial is located at the site of the accident, on the southeast side of Mt. Tom approximately 300 feet below the summit. Visitors should please note that vehicle access to the site is restricted and that a hike is generally required to visit the site.
One option for visiting the Memorial site is to drive up Mt. Park Road which can be accessed from Route 5/Northampton Street at point A located on the map above. Proceed 0.6 miles to Mt. Tom Ski Road located at point B. The Mt. Tom Ski Road is a restricted access road. A gate between Mt. Park Road and Mt. Tom Ski Road is typically closed, so visitors will need to walk 0.7 miles from point B to point C. Point C marks the beginning of an old paved railway bed that leads to the mountain summit. A moderately steep half-mile walk up the railway bed will lead visitors to the Memorial site.
